Audi R8 V10 - Paint Correction & Gloss Coat
Paint correction on this beautiful Audi R8 V10. On inspection after removing all oils, huge amounts of swirls and scratches were evident in the paint. The car received a two step polish due to the amount of clear coat left from previous detail work. After correcting the paint using the Rupes system, the vehicle was coated with Opti-Gloss Coat to protect the vehicle from light scratches and swirls in the future. The carbon fiber in the engine bay was also lightly polished to refine the finish. Was not able to take a lot of pictures of this vehicle due to time constraint.
Procedure
The wheels were cleaned using soap water
Tires were cleaned using D108
The whole car was rinsed using a foam lancer
The car was washed with Chemical Guys Citrus
NanoSkin Mitt used to decontaminate paint
Adam's Clay Bar used as secondary decon step
Iron X used as tertiary decon step
Natural light used to inspect paint
Paint corrected using Rupes polishers with LC Thin Pro orange pads
Paint polished using Menzerna 2500
Gyeon Q2M Prep used to remove polish oils before coating applications

On Arrival
Prior to foaming the car, all crevices of the exterior were fully cleaned using a soft brush. Iron-x was used to remove all metal contaminants from the vehicle before foaming the whole car. After a thorough rinse, snow foam was then applied, giving the vehicle a thorough pre-wash before the main wash began. Car Pro Microfiber Madness mitt and diluted soap/APC mix was used to remove all grime and oils from the paint. After cleaning the vehicle, the remaining embedded dirt was removed using a clay bar.
Pictures of during paint correction. Due to time constraints. no before and after pictures of paint correction was taken. However, a quick video was made to show the removal of paint defects. The left side of the hood was corrected, while the right side is covered in swirls and scratches. It is very hard to capture defects on a white paint but you can definitely see it in the video if you trace the light source.
After a whole day of completing paint correction, I am very satisfied. About to head inside and rest like a boss...
The next day, the matte wheels were hand waxed. The whole car was prepped for Gloss Coat using Gyeon Prep.
